About Julia Grundmeier
Art has been an important part of my life since an early age. At four, I began art school! Drawing and painting were always favorite activities, but now have become a main focus since my retirement from teaching in 1999. A turning point in my art life came in 1987 when I joined the newly formed Art Student’s League of Denver. It was a wonderful opportunity to work with professional artists and learn from other students. From 1999-2002 I worked with Doug Dawson in his Plein Air class. I was hooked! Working outdoors can be challenging, but the excitement and inspiration of experiencing the scene first hand helps me to judge color and value correctly, as well as gain a sense of the place. I am a juried member of the Littleton Fine Arts Guild and show work at our gallery, The Depot, in Littleton, Colorado. I am also a member of Art Out of Thin Air in Grand county, Colorado and Plein Air Artists of Colorado. Grand Lake Art Gallery represents my work in Grand Lake,Colorado and I continue to be an ongoing member at the Art Students League, participating in classes and workshops. The colors of nature and beautiful atmospheric affects of our western region are very inspiring to me-it is most enjoyable to spend time painting outdoors and sharing my visual perceptions with others.
